With energy costs rising, and the threat of blackouts and shortages over winter, we’re looking at alternative ways to stay warm.
Instead of heating your house, have you tried heating your clothing?
What Is Heated Clothing?
Heated clothing is clothing with built in electrical heating elements that warm the clothing and keep you warm. The heating elements can be switched on and off. You can have heating when you want, or just use as normal clothing. As the clothing is just heating you, it is much more efficient than heating a whole house.
Heated clothing often uses insulating material to keep the heat in. This also ensures that the heating does not use too much power and will retain your body heat.
A variety of different clothing items are available with built in heating, so that you can keep your whole body warm!
With energy prices rising, and possible blackouts, heated clothing is a great way to keep warm when no other heating is available. You can charge batteries to power the clothing when power is available, to then use during black outs.
How Is Heated Clothing Powered?
Heated clothing uses battery power, usually in the form of a power bank with a USB connection. You can keep multiple power banks charged and then when one runs out, swap to another until you are able to charge them again.
This makes heated clothing very convenient, because you don’t have to wait for built in batteries to charge. Just plug in your power bank and go. If your power bank has multiple USB sockets, you have the added advantage of being able to charge your phone while you’re out too!
