This prepper’s list covers anything to do with eyes and vision. This includes eye protection, eyesight correction and tools for long distance vision. Eyesight and eye protection isn’t often on many prepper’s lists, but it’s very important to think about. In a post-apocalyptic world, there won’t be anywhere to get new lenses or glasses. There won’t be any medical help if you damage your eyes, so make sure you protect them.
Glasses and Contact Lenses
Those of us who need glasses or contact lenses to improve our eyesight potentially have a problem in a post-apocalyptic world. Contact lenses won’t last long, and glasses can get broken or lost easily. The best option is to make sure you have several pairs of glasses, so that you’ll have more than one spare set.
Another option is to get laser eye surgery to correct your vision. This will last for years without the need for corrective lenses.
Sunglasses
Sunglasses are useful eye protection, and might be hard to find after the apocalypse. We recommend these DeWalt tinted safety glasses. They provide great UV protection, and are also very tough. Perfect for the post-apocalyptic world!

Binoculars
A good compact pair of binoculars allows you to magnify distant objects without having to carry around the added weight of a large pair of binoculars. Our favourite compact binoculars are the Hawke Nature Trek 8×32.

Night Vision
Night vision binoculars allow you to see objects, people and animals in the dark. Our favourites are the Nightfox 110R Night Vision binoculars. These have a good balance of relatively small size, decent range at night, and not too expensive.

Eye Protection Safety Goggles
Protecting your eyesight is very important, both now and after the apocalypse. Preppers should be ready for anything, and eye protection is no exception. Safety goggles will protect your eyes when you’re doing many different jobs you’ll need to do after the apocalypse.
Eye Wash
Make sure that your first aid kit has some sterile eye wash. You don’t want to be trying to wash something out of your eye with potentially dirty water, so these are a must have.
